Rope of Pearls

She cut through all my delusions. That’s what warrior princesses do. They slash and pillage, then have their way with the fair and trembling maidens.

When we merged to form Promethea, Grace became a part of me. She had already lived inside my body, inside my heart and mind. She knew what was me and what was bullshit. None of the lies I usually told would work on her.

When she kissed me that first time I had to admit – to her and to myself – that I liked it, that I wanted it, that I wanted more, that I’d wanted more for a long, long time.

It scared the hell out of me but there was no resisting.

She led, that first night.

She lassoed her long rope of pearls around my neck (my warrior princess) and drew me to her. My body, our body, belonged to her that night. I let her touch me wherever she wanted. I lay down for her. Her bed had a wrought iron headboard, elaborately crafted as the gate of some great manor.
