Title: Doll In The Box- An Echo Fanmix
Notes: I'm not really a fan of Joss Whedon's Dollhouse series yet. The 4 episodes I've seen have been less than stunning and I haven't really connected with the characters. Still, I find that the concept of the show raises some really interesting questions of identity. The premise of Dollhouse- people being wiped clean of memory and personality then programmed to be whoever their buyer wants them to be—might be science fiction but it touches reality. For whatever reason—economic survival, a desire to be loved-- many people, especially women, recreate themselves. They become someone else based on the needs and demands of others. Often they find themselves haunted by the Echo of their true self.
